Gateway Central Lay Servant Training - Saturday, March 21, 2020

Lay Servant Training will be offered in Gateway Central District on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at North Park UMC, 1525 Orchid Ave., St. Louis, MO 63147 from 8:30am - 5:00pm.

Courses available include:

1) Introduction to Lay Ministry (Basic course)

The Basic Course encourages people to recognize and use their spiritual gifts for work in the Church, helping each congregation to become an outpost for mission and transformation.  This course has broad application for ALL United Methodists especially those seeking to discover their ministry.

2) Devotional Life in the Wesleyan Tradition (an Advanced Heritage course)

Structured around Wesley's "Means of Grace," this class covers prayer, scripture, the Lord's Supper, fasting, Christian conferencing, and providential means of grace.

3) Start Here (an Advanced course on teaching adults)

It’s hard to know which is more intimidating: a roomful of wiggling pre-schoolers or know-it-all adults!  Based on some of the latest theories about faith development and learning, this class offers practical, down-to-earth strategies designed for teaching adults.

Because two hours of pre-work for each class is required for this one-day schedule, each participant must purchase their own book in advance of the course.  Registration $20 (includes lunch)
